In Slavic folklore, Baba Yaga is an old witch or wise woman who appears as a deformed and/or ferocious-looking crone. In fairy tales, Baba Yaga flies around in a mortar, wields a pestle, and dwells deep in the forest in a house that stands upon chicken legs. called Izbushka. Yaga's hut can walk about the forest searching for tasty children and other hapless beings to roast in her oven.
