The Voynich Manuscript is one of history's most fascinating and mysterious books — a lock that has never found its key. This 209-page printable grimoire brings that ancient enigma into your own hands, ready to print, bind, and add to your Book of Shadows. Could you be the one to crack history's greatest unsolved code?
What Is the Voynich Manuscript?
The Voynich Manuscript is an illustrated codex written in Central Europe in the 15th or 16th century, composed in an unknown language that no cryptographer has ever deciphered. It remains one of the world's greatest unsolved mysteries.
Its language is unknown. Its author, a ghost. Named after the bookseller Wilfrid M. Voynich, who acquired it in 1912, this cryptic text has baffled the greatest cryptographers of two world wars — and no one has succeeded in reading a single line.
What's Inside This Mysterious Witchcraft Book?
Every page of this printable spell book is filled with vivid, hand-drawn illustrations. Inside, you'll find:
- Otherworldly botanical drawings of unknown plants
- Constellations that don't exist in our sky
- Mysterious figures drifting through fantastical green baths and tubes
Rendered in ink and washed in vibrant shades of green, brown, yellow, blue, and red, this antique witch book blurs the line between magical text and scientific document. It is at once a spell book, a herbal, and a star chart — and none of them fully.
What Is the History of the Voynich Manuscript?
The Voynich Manuscript passed through the hands of emperors, astrologers, and scholars over five centuries, and now rests at Yale University. Its provenance is as mysterious as its contents:
- It was owned by Emperor Rudolph II, who paid 600 gold ducats believing it was the work of Roger Bacon
- It passed through the hands of English astrologer John Dee
- It was later presented to the scholar Athanasius Kircher
- In 1969, it was donated to the Beinecke Library at Yale University, where it remains today
