The cycle of nature is often represented by placing the Sabbats around the Wheel of the Year, a type of calendar that is split into eight sections. The Sabbats divide the year into eight equal parts and mark the beginning and middle of each season.
The four Lesser Sabbats represent the beginning of each season and are also known as solstices and equinoxes. Lesser Sabbats include Yule, Ostara, Litha and Mabon.
The four Greater Sabbats mark the midpoint of each season and always fall on a specific day. The Greater Sabbats include Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas and Samhain.
